| Demens Landing lies at the bottom of First Ave. S.
Pyotr Alexeyevith Dementyev (1850-1919), known by the much easier to
pronounce Peter Demens, was one of the major
founders of St. Petersburg, naming the city after his birthplace of
St. Petersburg, Russia. He and John Williams Sr. brought the
Orange Belt Railroad from Sanford, FL to this spot, a
half-mile long wharf, in 1899. This park is within sight of
the pier pavilion. |
